St Ives Cottage

Renting a St Ives cottage allows the visitor to relax and enjoy one of the most sought after holiday destinations in the UK. The vibrant and bustling fishing port of St Ives lies on the north Cornish coast adjacent to the regional hub of Penzance. Like many villages and towns in Cornwall, it was previously a busy fishing village, but since the decline of the fishing industry the focus has been more towards tourism. It was named as Best Seaside Town in the Guardian's 2007 competition.

However, it is predominantly through art that St Ives has built its worldwide reputation. The Tate St Ives (it has a larger brother in London!) has an extensive annual calendar of exhibitions which features contemporary and modern works that attract a large international market. The other galleries in the town, such as the Barbara Hepworth Museum and Sculpture Garden, also draw a huge amount of visitors, but the Tate certainly draws global attention throughout the year.

The little fishing port is extremely picturesque with its crescent shaped harbour and child friendly beach. The ancient cobbled streets are home to a wide selection of historic and quaint houses, many of which have been converted into St Ives holiday cottages. Visitors are able to wander through a maze of donkey-wide streets and alleyways that enable them to be transported back through the centuries to the days of Jolly Jack Tars and the whispers of smugglers!

The festivals of St Ives attract visitors throughout the year, and none so much as the St Ives Feast where you can view the ancient game of curling – one of only two regular Cornish hurling games held in Cornwall. With the feast acting as a celebration of St Ives' history, and the September Festival seeing many artists opening their galleries to the public, there're even more reasons for you to book your Cornish cottage holiday.

Cornwall boasts more coastline than any other county in Gt. Britain, and St. Ives nestles on the famous South West Coastal Path. This stunning walk from North Devon right around the coast to Dorset attracts walkers and ramblers from all over the UK and abroad.
