St Just Cottages

Due to its world famous association with tin mining, when you rent one of our St Just cottages, you are staying in a unique historical area which has just been granted World Heritage status by UNESCO. In the surrounding villages of Pendeen, Morvah, Trewellard, and Zennor, there are fine examples of engine houses and mine workings, many of which have been preserved and are just waiting to be discovered! In the St Just area, there are several elderly residents who can still recall the days when miners would come up from the shafts after a days work and use the "Sea Bath" that can still be glimpsed at low tide just off the beach at Cape Cornwall.

One of the major attractions in the area is The Geevor mine which, until 1993, was the last remaining working mine in the area. Due to a recent European grant, visitors are able to visit the fascinating museum, which charts the history of Cornish mining, and take an underground tour into the bowels of the earth to experience just what it was like in those harrowing days. Anyone who is interested in learning about the county's history owes it to themselves to stay in one of our St Just cottages, and experience unique history first hand.

Of course, it's not just museums and mines that the most westerly town in the UK can offer. St Just is situated on the very edge of Cape Cornwall, which is only one of two capes that exist in the country. The Atlantic Ocean surrounds this stunning peninsula, which has a plethora of hidden coves, superb beaches, picturesque fishing harbours and, in fact, everything you need to make that Cornish cottage holiday a memory to cherish forever!

For travellers who wish to enjoy the Cornish culture out of the main season, and are less bothered about the sun, a visit in November means you can enjoy the Lafrowda festival, a week-long affair that celebrates the parish's community and arts.
