As well as the stunning Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens, delectable Tremenheere Kitchen and gorgeous gift shop, Penzance’s botanical beauty also presents: Tremenheere Gallery, which offers visitors the chance to personally peruse and purchase some seriously covetable artworks.
Currently exhibiting until 16th July on the lower floor of the beautiful new gallery building is ‘More Than Meets The Eye’ - a changing exhibition of artists including the heady likes of Mick Arnold (ceramics), Nicola Bealing (monotypes), Anthony Bryant Ander Gunn (photographs), Tony Hayward (mixed media), Sheila Oliner (original prints), Marta Rogoyska (tapestries), Nicola Tassie (ceramic sculpture), Janice Tchalenko (ceramics) and more.
Meanwhile, on the upper floor of the gallery, Stephen Chambers RA will unveil a solo exhibition of new monotypes and original prints with ‘Beneath the Golden Tree’, which is scheduled to run until 16th July.
Having staged exhibitions of his works at the Royal Academy of Arts in 2012 and the Ten Art Gallery in Milan in 2013, the acclaimed artist continues to garner worldwide praise, particularly for his use of colour. Of his own work, Stephen says it "speaks of states of mind, behaviours and sensibilities," which can be admired in all of its awe-inspired glory during Tremenheere’s not-to-be-missed event.
And for anyone in west Cornwall between 23rd July and 28th August, Hannah Woodman’s latest offering, ‘Between the Elements and the Artists’, unveils a collection of stunning new paintings on the gallery’s lower floor.
The works are the result of Hannah’s creative response to Tremenheere’s incredible landscape, of which she says: “Looking out towards the sea and St Michael’s Mount, there is a strong connection between the elements and the artist. A sense of history hangs in the air, sitting quietly alongside the beautifully regenerated gardens and contemporary artwork.”
In addition, the exhibition will feature a range of new ceramics by renowned Mousehole potter Jack Doherty, while the upper floor will host an exhibition of recent paintings by Penzance based artist, Bob Bourne.<< Back to articles
