After four years of extensive building work, the iconic Tate St Ives is reopening its doors on 14th October with a series of exhibitions, displays and events.
The free launch weekend on 14th and 15th October offers a special first look, in addition to a live broadcast by Pirate FM, various talks, pop up tours and family activities – plus there will be a not-to-be-missed fireworks display on the Saturday evening at 8pm.
Turner prize nominee, Rebecca Warren will be hosting her brand new solo exhibition ‘All That Heaven Allows’ from 14th October-7th January 2018, featuring her eye-catching sculptures and neon vitrines; while the new permanent ‘Modern Art and St Ives’ display will also run from 14th October and will feature a diverse tally of top artists including Peter Lanyon, Barbara Hepworth, Ben Nicholson, Naum Gabo, Paule Vezelay, Piet Mondrian, Keith Vaughan, Patrick Heron and Winifred Nicholson.
Youngsters will relish ‘Toddle Tate’ (14th November and 12th December) – where under 5s can explore the spaces and artworks through activities involving messy play, stories, song, and movement, with November’s event centred on Rebecca Warren’s sculptures and December’s focussed on creating an illuminated cardboard Christmas tree forest.
Explore the new gallery spaces, rooftop garden and exhibitions before refreshing at the Atlantic gazing café and scouring the shop for gifts, prints, books and jewellery during what promises to be an inspired and much-anticipated day out for all.
