Mousehole

Keigwin Cottage

If you’ve ever dreamt about holidaying in that enchanting, pretty and quintessentially quirky Cornish cottage nestled in the picturesque fishing village of Mousehole – then dream no more as Keigwin Cottage is just that! Some parts of this beautifully appointed Grade 11 listed terraced property date back to the early 1500’s when it was owned by John Keigwin, one of the wealthiest maritime traders in the village and captain of the “Margaret” sailing vessel. He was unfortunately killed in 1595 when the Spanish attacked Mousehole raising the village to the ground with the Keigwin properties (one was a pub)  the only remaining houses left standing. Today, Keigwin Cottage has been completely renovated by the current owners who are very conscious of its important heritage and have tried to retain and capture as much charm and character as possible – they have certainly succeeded.
